Lately there has been a lot of chatter about the “return of 90s fashion” amongst my friends and amongst fashion wags. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing more women dressed like Hope Sandoval; she’s certainly an under-appreciated style icon.

This is a fantastic aesthetic that I support wholeheartedly. It is at once anachronistic, tatterly genteel, mildly feral, and ever-so-slightly witchy. APPROVED!

A while back dailykvetch linked me to the blog (style rookie) of the delightful young woman pictured above. What a wonderful sense of personal aesthetics she has! Anyone who uses Ouija boards as a fashion accessory and takes inspiration from Hitchcock is brilliant in my book. It also appears that her aesthetic eye is being recognized by the fashion world; she is even involved in starting a new fashion magazine for young women. Bravo!
A nerdette friend of mine sent me a link to a Polyvore set centered around the theme of playing Dungeons & Dragons. Cute! And also I bet that kitty shirt would insure good luck and many critical hits.
I wonder if someone out there has done Polyvore outifts based around specific D&D monsters. I would love to see something inspired by Mind Flayers or Owlbears.
Polyvore set by Ashe Mischief.

“I’m in the stocks perpetually in the UK — They say, ‘What is she wearing now? How dare she?’ Like, criminal acts. Now I feel like I have a reputation to keep. I have a responsibility now to dress badly, so it’s kind of liberating.”
