I was a little worried when I saw that this recipe calls for Jordan almonds because I thought it meant those candy-coated nuts they have at weddings.  (That would be too perverse, even for Crowley.)  As it turns out, “Jordan almonds” probably just means “large almonds”; the Jordan region was famed for its unusually hefty fruits and nuts.
